Hear me, Lord

I lift up my voice to you, O Lord,
hear the words that I speak;
Listen to my cry as You always do,
Answer me in haste.

“More, more...” I always ask,
I have been self-absorbed;
I desire what others have,
I am never satisfied.

I overlook the gifts You give,
and the generous blessings that You pour;
I want more than what I have,
I have sinned with my lust.

Yet You give me more than what I need,
I fall short yet You treat me with compassion;
In all these, I come to remember,
Your blood that has flowed from Calvary for me.

Dear Lord I pray,
Hear me as I ask for more,
of Your love, more of Your mercy,
More of your kindness and patience.

Send more of Your goodness and glory,
and let me stay in Your boundless grace;
may Your praise be my life
for that is the entire purpose of my existence.
