Missing the Light

It’s a cold, gloomy and stormy night,
The rain’s falling with a terrible might,
It’s flooding every space where it passes,
Like tears to a heart, lonely and restless.

It has been ages since I have seen light,
Shadows dark have kept it out of my sight,
It is so near yet it is very far,
Like having peace in the middle of war.

All that’s left for me to cherish and hold,
Are tender memories out in the cold,
And hoping for the future to unfold,
Yet which no power has ever foretold.

Siding with any possibility,
Pressing against imminent tragedy,
Leaving behind reason and sanity,
Taking hold of love’s serene purity.

Dark shadows cast doubt that obscure vision,
Filling the heart with utter confusion,
It’s a long and cruel isolation,
A life-long and bitter separation.

She’s gone yet I inquire of her return,
From a distance only hearts can sojourn,
As for where this timeless journey shall end?
I leave it all up to destiny’s hand.
