One Lost Love

A Free Verse

As the sun kisses the grassless hill,
Inexpressible emotions battle,
Joy and sadness brawl,
As the warm wind blows.

A big change is about to unfold,
Yet the heart feels frozen,
Moving into a new bastion,
Leaving behind the old castle.

Life doesn’t have everything,
So imperfect for human desire,
Yet if we want to get something better,
We need to let go of what we now hold.

It’s a blessing to know how to love,
An understanding a man keeps in his heart,
But it’s like dreaming of touching the sun,
Like hoping that the sunset won’t come.

The sparrows shed tears as they bid goodbye,
Both were nursing a bleeding heart,
Extending their wings for a priceless embrace,
Then they swiftly flew apart.

Could this be the end of a poignant love story?
Will the sparrows soar too high to recognize
the beacon of love that guides their way;
helping them find each other in the night?
