“The Banner from the Lord” - WSCS Hymn

written for the Women’s Society of Christian Service, (United Methodist Women) of the Lagro United Methodist Church, Quezon City, Philippines

We bear a banner of love and devotion

to Jesus Christ our Lord,

For we are His handmaids

His name we adore,

annointed by His word.

We bear a banner of joy and elation

to Jesus Christ our Lord,

For we are His handmaids

His glory we sing,

prepared for His return.

Refrain:

Are lights to our homes

when darkness hides the way,

Are balms of comfort there;

Sources of tender care.

We bear a banner of peace and abundance

from Jesus Christ our Lord,

Mothers and sisters

in church and in home

serving with fervor.

We bear a banner of truth, understanding

and knowledge of the Lord

Teaching, preparing

our children to hear

and listen to God’s voice.

We bear the marks of the cross in our hearts

in reaching out to all,
